Shopping For High Bandwidth Internet Connections

In order to make the most out of your high Bandwidth connections, you have to start by knowing exactly what Bandwidth is and how it works.

Simply put, bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted through your Internet connection over a certain period of time.  The more Bandwidth you have, the faster you can do things like download videos and upload files.

In fact, every time you send and receive data, you’re using up some of your allotted Bandwidth.  When you consider all of the people in your office who are doing the same exact thing day in and day out, it’s easy to see why high Bandwidth Internet connections are so popular!

So, what are some of the things you can do to make the most out of your connections?

-  Start with fiber

When it comes time to invest in new high Bandwidth Internet connections, start by looking at fiber.  After all, fiber is the wave of the future.  More and more providers are switching over to it because it’s stronger, faster, and better than anything else.  It’s capable of carrying more data than anything else – meaning it can offer you the most bandwidth possible.

However, that also means that fiber high Bandwidth Internet connections will also be the most expensive.  So, do some shopping around.  If you absolutely-positively-cannot afford fiber, then…

- Move onto copper

There’s nothing “wrong” with copper high Bandwidth Internet connections.  In fact, until fiber came along, copper was considered highly state-of-the-art.  Copper just can’t keep up with everything that fiber has to offer.

The good part about that, though, is that the price of copper high bandwidth internet connections have gone down since fiber entered the scene, simply because they’re now considered “second-rate”.  So, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a copper provider that can give you the high bandwidth you need at a price that you can afford.

One final tip, though – the best copper to go for is “fast Ethernet”.  It’s 10 times faster than traditional Ethernet, which means you’ll get to take advantage of 10 times the Bandwidth!

If you’ve decided to stick with what you’ve already got (like coaxial cable, or something comparable), then be sure to…

-  Take full advantage of your Quality of Service

That’s actually the fancy term that describes your ability to set certain types of data as priorities, so that they travel faster along your network.  Since you don’t have to upgrade your Bandwidth to use Quality of Service, your monthly bills will stay the same, but your network will feel faster – meaning it will feel like you’ve signed up for one of the high Bandwidth Internet connections!
